BNY Mellon has evolved its approach to social responsibility beyond its already strong employee engagement, environmental stewardship and community commitments. Now, to complement BNY Mellon’s role in global capital markets, it’s invested more than ever —invested in market integrity, invested in its people and invested in the world. Some of the programs and initiatives BNY Mellon participates in include:
- Responsible Investing: BNY Mellon seeks to provide substantive programs to support clients’ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) needs. The company provides socially responsible investments capabilities in both its Investment Management and Investment Services businesses for clients who seek to shape their investment strategies around social and environmental values.
- Employee Resource Groups: Employee resource groups are an important component of BNY Mellon’s diversity commitment. It sponsors five cross-company groups that recognize the value of its diverse and global workforce.
- Community Commitment: Whether through strategic philanthropy or employee community involvement, BNY Mellon partners with nonprofits to improve the social and economic conditions where it does business and where its employees live and work. BNY Mellon and its employees donated more than $39.9 million and 140,000 hours of volunteer service in 2015.
- Community Partnership: BNY Mellon’s Community Partnership program offers distinctive employee giving programs that are responsive to employee interests. The global program, which encourages employees to engage in volunteer and fundraising experiences, offers regional flexibility and a variety of options for participation. Highlights of the program include paid volunteer time annually for eligible employees and a corporate match to charities for team volunteer time and team fundraising efforts.
