At UBS Group AG, corporate responsibility means ‘doing the right thing’ – both now and in the future. UBS’s commitment to this is incorporated in the principles and standards set out in the firm’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. These apply to all aspects of UBS’s business and the ways in which the firm engages with its stakeholders – from the products and services it offers its clients, its management of environmental and social risks, to the way UBS protects the well-being of our employees. Corporate responsibility is embedded at every level helping UBS to adopt a responsible and sustainable approach to doing business while underlining the firm’s desire to contribute to the communities in which it does business. UBS aims to overcome disadvantage in local communities by supporting education and entrepreneurship through a combination of targeted funding and the commitment and skills of its employees. Coordinated globally, UBS’s initiatives are implemented regionally and based on local need. This enables the firm to generate sustainable and measurable impact in local communities while offering volunteering opportunities for employees. Apart from direct cash donations and the commitment of its employees, UBS’s community investment program also includes employee matched-giving schemes and disaster relief efforts. Some of the programs and initiatives UBS participates in include:

  • UBS NextGen Leaders: In June 2014, UBS unveiled a $10 million, five-year commitment to establish a new education platform for improving college success among under-resourced populations. Commencing in three markets — New York, New Jersey and Connecticut — with an intensive program focused on young men of color, UBS NextGen Leaders aims to empower students with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in college and compete in the global marketplace.
  • Elevating Entrepreneurs: Through the Elevating Entrepreneurs initiative, UBS provide small business owners with high-impact business mentoring, access to capital as well as education and networking opportunities to help them grow their companies and create jobs
  • Partnerships with nonprofits: In 2013, UBS announced new partnerships with Venture for America, a nonprofit that recruits top college graduates to work for two years at emerging start-ups in cities with high potential for revitalization, and American Corporate Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting veterans in their transition from careers in service to careers in business.
